2U, the parent company of edX, is seeking an Accounts Receivable Associate to join its Revenue Operations team. This role is crucial in bridging the customer journey with the company's financial performance. The Accounts Receivable Associate will manage and process incoming payments, reconcile accounts, and ensure the timely collection of outstanding invoices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage Accounts Receivable: Prepare, issue, and distribute accurate customer invoices and credit card payment links in a timely manner. Record and reconcile payments, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Debt Monitoring & Collections: Monitor outstanding balances, support the dunning process, and engage directly with customers as needed to ensure completion of contracted payments. Work with internal teams to manage responses to unpaid orders.
  • Account Reconciliation: Investigate and resolve discrepancies, including chargebacks, short payments, and disputes. Monitor reporting and lead internal conversations around discrepancies.
  • Customer Communication: Address billing inquiries, provide account statements, and maintain positive communications with clients. Partner with Customer Support to facilitate clarity for customers on invoicing & payment questions.
  • Reporting: Generate accounts receivable aging reports and assist with month-end closing activities, including but not limited to breakage and debt writeoffs. Leverage data to assist in problem perception and recommend process improvements.
  • Compliance Readiness & Records Accuracy: Maintain accurate records, ensure adherence to company policies, and support audit readiness.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred), or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, or a similar finance role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data accurately.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and a track record of using them for problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
