Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer

Job Description

Halcyon, a company focused on stopping ransomware, is seeking a Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer. This is a remote, senior individual contributor role where the engineer will take technical ownership of the cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices. The Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer will design resilient systems, scale infrastructure, mentor engineers, and collaborate across product, platform, and security teams.

Responsibilities include:

• Setting technical direction for infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and automation within the DevOps function.
• Architecting and maintaining scalable, secure infrastructure on AWS using Terraform, Kubernetes, and related tooling.
• Owning and improving CI/CD workflows, enabling fast and reliable deployments across teams.
• Mentoring and supporting DevOps engineers, fostering autonomy, quality, and professional growth.
• Defining and tracking operational metrics.
• Driving incident readiness and response.
• Collaborating cross-functionally to align infrastructure goals.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and DevOps engineering, with 2+ years in a lead role.
• Deep experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform preferred).
• Proficiency with Kubernetes and deployment tooling such as Helm.
• Strong CI/CD knowledge.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar.
• Familiarity with observability tools.
• Strong understanding of cloud security practices.
• Proven ability to mentor and lead technical initiatives.
• Solid understanding of systems performance and reliability.
• Comfort working in a polyglot environment.
