Job Description
Xapo Bank is seeking a Legal Counsel to support their legal team. This is a fully remote position based in Gibraltar, allowing the candidate to work from anywhere. The Legal Counsel will play a crucial role in conducting research, reviewing documentation, contracts, and engagement terms, as well as analyzing complex legal information and summarizing findings in clear, concise reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth legal research on a wide range of legal topics and areas of law.
  • Review legal documentation and information relevant to the Financial Services, Fintech, and Blockchain spaces.
  • Assess and implement standards relating to the consumer duty principle, financial promotion rules, and reviewing and assessing client facing communications.
  • Deal with any issues that arise from a members’ perspective.
  • Analyse this information and provide concise reports based on findings.
  • Provide recommendations and sound legal advice based on research findings.

Requirements:
  • 2-3 years experience PQE within the Financial Services (primarily banking, payments and DLT) industry, with a Fintech and Blockchain focus ideally.
  • Gibraltar or UK qualified lawyer (or equivalent) with practice and experience in the UK or Gibraltar
  • Demonstrated analytical and research abilities.
  • Ability to find creative solutions to complex legal problems.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with various technologies and infrastructure.
  • Ability to lead a project, interact across product, risk, finance and other teams within the group, and to have some business development skills.
