Lead Backend Engineer at Launch Potato

Launch Potato, a digital media company, is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to support their Data Science team and scale machine learning innovation across business-critical services. The successful candidate will be responsible for deploying and maintaining ML infrastructure, ensuring scalable, production-grade integrations, and removing backend bottlenecks. The role involves service ownership, technical execution, infrastructure and DevOps enablement, code quality and team collaboration, and product awareness and impact.

The Lead Backend Engineer will work in a containerized AWS environment, using tools like Terraform, ECS, and Lambda. They will contribute to continuous deployment pipelines and improve CI/CD workflows using tools like CircleCI. A strong understanding of Python/Django (or FastAPI), SQL databases, and CI/CD is essential.

Role Involves:

• Deploy machine learning pipeline and endpoint changes.
• Maintain and improve backend services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Stand up and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, ECS, and Lambda.
• Participate in code reviews.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of professional development experience using Python.
• Experience with containerized Python/Django (or FastAPI) services.
• Proven track record collaborating with Data Science teams.
• Proficiency in SQL databases, CI/CD (especially CircleCI), and Terraform.
