Senior Backend Engineer at Launch Potato

Launch Potato is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their team. The role involves enabling the Data Science team to scale machine learning innovation by supporting and deploying ML infrastructure across business-critical services. The Senior Backend Engineer will maintain and improve backend services, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to continuous deployment pipelines. The candidate will approach projects with a product-oriented mindset, suggesting engineering improvements and inefficiencies based on their knowledge of team workflows and Launch Potato’s product ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

• Deploy machine learning pipelines and endpoint changes.
• Maintain and improve backend services.
• Identify and remove backend bottlenecks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Stand up and maintain infrastructure using tools like Terraform, ECS, and Lambda.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Deliver maintainable and testable code.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of professional development experience using Python.
• Experience with containerized Python/Django (or FastAPI) services, including deployment on AWS.
• Experience collaborating with Data Science teams and deploying ML endpoints to production.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting production bugs.
• Strong grasp of SQL databases, CI/CD (especially CircleCI), and infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred).
