Job Description
The National Football League (NFL) is seeking a Director of Global Payroll to manage and analyze the league's bi-weekly payroll, covering approximately 5,000 employees during peak seasons. This role involves overseeing payroll for international operations in the UK, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Australia, and Brazil. The Director will lead the payroll team, implement best-in-class processes, and ensure compliance with payroll and time reporting laws, both domestically and internationally. The NFL requires someone with payroll systems and processing activities expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the Global Payroll department, supervising staff and third-party processors.
- Develop and execute overall corporate payroll strategy across the NFL.
- Handle executive deferred compensation and performance-based compensation arrangements.
- Manage time reporting systems and integrate them into core payroll systems.
- Ensure compliance with all payroll-related laws and regulations.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing complex payroll environments for organizations with at least 2000 employees in multi-state, multi-country settings.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud-based payroll, with expertise in payroll and tax processing.
- Expert knowledge of cloud-based payroll and time reporting systems (UKG preferred).
- Strong knowledge of payroll costing process to general ledger and balancing.
- Proficiency in report writing and data analysis using advanced Excel.
- Expert knowledge of payroll tax laws, complex employee benefit programs, executive deferred compensation plans, and various pay/deduction codes.
- Experience with systems implementation and integration is a plus.
- Strong leadership, motivation, organization, and accuracy skills.
