Senior Platform Engineer at Policy Expert

Policy Expert is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their Platform Engineering team in London. This is a hybrid role, requiring 50% of the time to be spent in the office. The Platform team underpins everything the tech teams build, empowering developers to ship confidently and at speed, creating a scalable, secure environment with great developer experience.

The Senior Platform Engineer will be responsible for defining and implementing best practices in infrastructure and software delivery in new GCP environments, managing and evolving CI/CD tooling using GitHub Actions, building reusable Infrastructure-as-Code templates and pipelines, developing automation and tooling to improve developer productivity and operational efficiency, providing expert advice and guidance to other developer teams, championing cloud cost optimisation and observability, and leveraging the latest technologies and tools to enhance developers' productivity and overall platform experience.

Role Involves:

• Defining and implementing best practices in infrastructure and software delivery in GCP environments.
• Managing and evolving CI/CD tooling using GitHub Actions.
• Building reusable Infrastructure-as-Code templates and pipelines.
• Developing automation and tooling to improve developer productivity.
• Providing expert advice and guidance to other developer teams.
• Championing cloud cost optimisation and observability.
• Leveraging the latest technologies and tools to enhance developers' productivity.

Requirements:

• Hands-on GCP experience.
• Proficiency in at least one infrastructure as code language (Terraform ideal).
• Strong emphasis on automation.
• Experience developing AWS cloud infrastructure (bonus).
• Comfortable developing and managing modern CI/CD tooling e.g. GitHub actions, Gitlab-ci, CircleCI.
• Proficient in Python.
• A mindset of treating Infrastructure as Software.
• Operational experience with observability practices and tooling.
• Cost awareness and ability to manage cloud spend efficiently.
• Comfortable leading technical initiatives and mentoring others in best practices.
