Job Description
One Acre Fund is seeking a Global Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Director to lead all MEL functions within the organization. The MEL department functions as an in-house research and evaluation firm, conducting rigorous evaluations and analyses to inform internal decision-making. The team operates in all 10 countries where One Acre Fund has a presence. The role reports to the Global Impact Director.
Role involves:
- Stewarding internal annual evaluation studies.
- Ensuring high-quality data collection and analysis.
- Developing and professionalizing MEL staff.
- Informing program strategy with MEL data and results.
- Setting and implementing long-term vision for MEL functions.
- Deepening One Acre Fund's evidence base through experimental studies.
- Developing robust standardized methods for newly evolving work.
- Overseeing analysis and recommendations for investment decisions.
- Ensuring transparency and accessibility of data insights.
- Liaising with partners and donors.
- Representing One Acre Fund MEL to leaders internally and externally.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in the evaluation field in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Master's degree or higher in a relevant field (agriculture, economics, statistics, etc.).
- 7+ years of experience in a quantitative field with training in quantitative methods.
- 5+ years of experience managing teams and developing leaders.
- Familiarity with statistical software packages (STATA or R).
- Experience working in a multicultural workplace in Sub-Saharan Africa.
