MEL Director at One Acre Fund - Global

One Acre Fund is seeking a Global Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Director to lead all MEL functions within the organization. The MEL Director will report to the Global Impact Director and will be an important member of organizational leadership. The MEL department functions as an in-house research and evaluation firm, conducting rigorous evaluations and analyses to inform internal decision-making. The team has a presence in all 10 countries of operation. The goal of the MEL department is to both prove and improve program impact, and One Acre Fund has a culture of respecting data analysis and pivoting program activities in response to new evidence.

Role involves:
  • Stewarding internal annual evaluation studies.
  • Ensuring high-quality data collection and analysis.
  • Developing and professionalizing MEL staff.
  • Informing program strategy with MEL data and results.
  • Setting and implementing long-term vision for MEL functions.
  • Deepening One Acre Fund's evidence base through experimental studies.
  • Developing robust standardized methods for newly evolving work.
  • Overseeing analysis and recommendations for organizational investments.
  • Ensuring transparency and accessibility of data insights.
  • Liaising with partners and donors.
  • Representing One Acre Fund MEL to leaders internally and externally.

Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in the evaluation field in a developing country context.
  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field (agriculture, economics, statistics, etc.).
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating complex programs.
  • Experience in a quantitative field with training in quantitative methods.
  • Experience managing teams and developing leaders across different geographies.
  • Familiarity with statistical software packages (STATA or R).
  • Experience working in a multicultural workplace in a developing country.
