Data Engineer at Winton

Winton, a research-based investment management company, is seeking a Data Engineer to join their Quantitative Platform team. The Data Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure that fuels Winton's research and trading strategies. This role involves managing the end-to-end lifecycle of various datasets, ensuring timely acquisition, cleaning, validation, efficient storage, and reliable delivery through robust data pipelines.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluating, onboarding, and integrating complex data products from diverse vendors.
• Designing, implementing, and optimizing robust, production-grade data pipelines.
• Engineering and maintaining sophisticated automated validation frameworks.
• Providing expert operational support for data pipelines.
• Participating actively in team rotations, including on-call schedules.

Requirements:

• 5+ years’ experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and pandas within a financial environment.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with various technologies such as S3, Kafka, Airflow, Iceberg
• Proficiency working with large financial datasets from various vendors.
• A commitment to engineering excellence and pragmatic technology solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
