Job Description
Policy Expert is seeking a Group Head of Underwriting to lead and shape their underwriting strategy. The ideal candidate will leverage technical expertise, market insight, and commercial acumen to drive sustainable and profitable growth. This role involves providing strategic leadership, developing underwriting strategies, and optimizing underwriting performance across all products. The Group Head of Underwriting will work closely with various teams, including Claims, Pricing, and Product, to ensure alignment and success.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic leadership of the underwriting proposition.
- Development and implementation of underwriting strategy.
- Strategic guidance to senior underwriting team and stakeholders.
- Input of underwriting know-how into pricing and product strategy.
- Oversight of operational underwriting.
- Development and implementation of underwriting governance and compliance framework.
- Collaboration with Risk & Reserving and Claims teams.
- Liaison with partner insurers.
Requirements:
- 7+ years’ experience in a personal lines underwriting leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of the personal lines market and underwriting philosophies.
- Strong knowledge of claim trends.
- Ability to demonstrate underwriting thought leadership.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Experience with data-driven underwriting strategies.
- Experience managing relationships with insurers and/or reinsurers.
