Group Head of Underwriting at Policy Expert

Policy Expert is seeking a Group Head of Underwriting to lead and shape the underwriting strategy across all products. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise, market insight, and commercial acumen to drive sustainable and profitable growth. This role requires sharp judgment, deep industry knowledge, and strategic vision.

Role involves:

• Strategic leadership of the underwriting proposition.
• Development and implementation of underwriting strategy.
• Providing strategic guidance to the senior underwriting team.
• Contributing underwriting knowledge to pricing and product strategy.
• Overseeing operational underwriting activities.
• Developing and implementing an underwriting governance and compliance framework.
• Optimizing underwriting footprint and mix management.
• Identifying and responding to emerging issues related to underwriting and loss ratio performance.
• Liaising with and influencing partner insurers.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in a personal lines underwriting leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of the personal lines market and its dynamics.
• Knowledge of underwriting philosophies.
• Strong knowledge of claim trends.
• Demonstrable underwriting thought leadership.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Experience in using data to enhance underwriting strategy.
• Experience in managing relationships with insurers and/or reinsurers.
