Engineering Manager, Anti-Abuse at SoundCloud

SoundCloud is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead its Anti-Abuse Systems team. The company empowers artists and fans to connect and share through music. The Engineering Manager will guide a team of engineers and ML practitioners in building scalable abuse detection pipelines, real-time classifiers, and content moderation tooling.

The role combines technical leadership, people management, and cross-functional collaboration. The Engineering Manager will report to the Director of Engineering.

Role Involves:

• Leading a team of backend and machine learning engineers.
• Owning the architecture for abuse prevention pipelines.
• Setting the technical strategy and roadmap.
• Partnering with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Mentoring and developing team members.
• Maintaining high engineering quality standards.
• Facilitating Agile ceremonies.
• Communicating proactively across the organization.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of engineering management experience.
• Hands-on experience as a software developer.
• Knowledge of abuse prevention, content moderation, or fraud detection.
• Experience with detection systems, rule-based pipelines, or ML models.
• Engineering background in backend architecture, data platforms, microservices, or cloud.
• Strong collaboration skills.
• Track record of hiring, mentoring, and growing diverse technical teams.
