A company in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada is looking for a Facility Custodian. The Facility Custodian will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized environment across both office and warehouse spaces, ensuring safety and hygiene standards are consistently met. The role also involves managing laundry tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Clean and maintain office areas, including desks, meeting rooms, and shared spaces.
- Sanitize and restock office and warehouse washrooms.
- Perform general cleaning tasks in the warehouse.
- Operate Walk-Behind Floor Scrubbers.
- Clean and organize outdoor spaces.
- Collect and properly dispose of waste and recyclables.
- Restock and organize cleaning supplies.
- Collect, wash, dry, and fold linens, uniforms, and other washable items.
- Sort laundry items according to type, color, and care instructions.
- Operate and maintain washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment.
- Inspect laundered items for cleanliness.
- Organize and distribute cleaned laundry to designated areas.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Follow proper waste disposal and hazardous material handling procedures.
- Report any unsafe conditions or equipment issues immediately.
- Participate in fire drills and safety training sessions.
- Perform other cleaning- and laundry-related tasks as assigned.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Previous cleaning experience, especially in office or warehouse settings, preferred.
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment, including Walk-Behind Floor Scrubbers, is an asset.
- Experience handling laundry and operating commercial or standard washers/dryers is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physically capable of performing tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending.
- Knowledge of basic safety procedures and cleaning techniques is preferred.
- Friendly and approachable personality.
- Cleaning: 1 year (preferred).
- Laundry handling: 1 year (preferred).
- Familiarity with floor scrubbers or similar equipment (preferred).
