Corporate Counsel at Carbon Direct

Carbon Direct is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join their Legal team. The candidate will be responsible for varied legal workstreams, learning new systems, and helping to improve legal operations. They will support business functions and draft, negotiate, and manage contracts and policies. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in an evolving environment and values precision in their legal work.

Responsibilities:

• Act as legal collaborator to all Carbon Direct teams.
• Structure, draft, and navigate a broad range of agreements.
• Take the lead on select legal workstreams.
• Assist in designing and improving lean, scalable legal processes and systems.
• Contribute to the creation and refinement of contract templates and policies.
• Help shape legal strategy by identifying risks.
• Support compliance efforts across corporate governance, employment, and data privacy.
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide legal support.
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism.

Requirements:

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and bar admission in good standing.
• Relevant legal experience, with a mix of law firm and in-house experience preferred.
• Proven ability to manage legal processes with independence and a collaborative mindset.
• Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Experience improving legal operations or implementing new systems/processes is a strong plus.
• Clear communicator with the ability to translate legal risk into actionable guidance.
• Experience supporting or working with technology or advisory services companies preferred.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
