Backpack Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatrist to join their growing team as a Part-Time Medical Director. This role offers the opportunity to provide direct psychiatric care via telehealth, focusing on under-served youth and families. Backpack Healthcare is a clinician-led, minority-owned online behavioral health company committed to providing accessible, high-quality mental health care for children. The Medical Director will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of therapists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and medication management for children, adolescents, and young adults.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, ensuring appropriate treatment and adherence.
- Collaborate with therapists, psychologists, and other healthcare providers to deliver integrated mental health care.
- Provide psycho-education to patients and families regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and professional development activities.
Requirements:
- MD or DO with board certification (or board eligibility) in Psychiatry or Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Active, unrestricted medical license in at least one of our service states (Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Michigan, or DC) with willingness to obtain additional state licenses.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults in a clinical setting.
- Strong skills in psychotropic medication management, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Comfort and proficiency in telehealth platforms and electronic health records (EHRs).
