Senior Underwriter, Construction, Owners at Argo Group

Argo Group is seeking a Senior Underwriter for its Construction Owners line of business. This role involves production underwriting, marketing, and processing assigned lines of business. The Senior Underwriter will also participate in special projects and mentor less experienced staff.Responsibilities include:

• Underwriting and analyzing new business and renewal submissions.
• Ensuring marketing initiatives are achieved and communicating products and services to brokers.
• Developing existing broker relations and establishing new relationships.
• Actively participating in client and broker meetings.
• Maintaining a submission pipeline to achieve production and business mix objectives.
• Using market contacts to bring in business and gather market intelligence.

Requirements include:

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• A desire to continually update skills through continuing education.
• Previous insurance educational work, IIA and CPCU designations are strongly preferred.
• A minimum of five years underwriting experience with authority.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Excellent ability to collect, gather, manipulate and analyze information in detail.
• Advanced knowledge of computer programs, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time.
