Openly is seeking a Director of Ceded Reinsurance to lead the company's ceded reinsurance operations and improve its buying strategy. The role involves enhancing spend efficiency, reducing EBIT volatility, and protecting risk capital. The Director will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to Openly's approach to product, risk, and capital management.
Responsibilities:
- Ownership of the reinsurance placement process
- Develop and execute opportunities to enhance current and future state buying strategies
- Maintain and evolve reinsurance capacity development strategies
- Maintain and build upon our traditional reinsurance and ILS capacity provider relationships
- Monitor an evolving rating agency and regulatory environment
- Ensure accurate forecasting and management of reinsurance budget
- Key relationship lead between Openly and our carrier partners
- Manage day-to-day relationships with our co-broking teams
- Build and leverage strong relationships with internal stakeholders
- Support the work of various departments
- Drive as-needed financial modeling
- Thought leader and partner to the CFO and Head of Reinsurance & Capital Management
Requirements:
- 12+ years of relevant work experience
- Proven leadership skills
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, and/or math preferred
- Frequent US domestic & International travel required
- Strong grasp of statistical analysis
- Familiarity with Cat modeling outputs
- Experience with unauthorized and/or unrated reinsurance requirements desirable
- Experience at or related to fronting carriers desirable
- Experience with AM Best & Risk Based Capital requirements highly desirable
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential
