Head of Engineering, Lit at Array Education

Lit, incubated under Array Education, is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the technical strategy and execution for their literacy product. This role involves guiding a lean, cross-functional team through the early development and pilot testing of their first classroom-ready MVP. The Head of Engineering will report to the Chief Product Officer and will be responsible for making critical architectural decisions and building towards major pilots.

Responsibilities:

• Setting technical direction and system architecture.
• Driving cross-functional delivery.
• Integrating speech and AI capabilities.
• Building systems for real-world classrooms.
• Developing a learning-aware platform.
• Championing inclusive engineering.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including system architecture and backend development.
• Strong track record of leading cross-functional execution.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes, Docker).
• Familiarity with secure, compliant systems (FERPA, COPPA).
• Experience with Agile methodology and sprint-based development.
