The Sr. Special Products Specialist role at Valon is responsible for managing complex mortgage servicing requests related to non-standard and specialty loan scenarios. The role involves processing mortgage amendments, loan recasts, SCRA benefits, ARM adjustments, successor in interest (SII) reviews, and partial lien releases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mortgage loan servicing and expertise in navigating complex loan transactions.
Responsibilities:
- Process Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) requests.
- Handle and coordinate loan recast processes.
- Review and validate successor in interest requests.
- Facilitate and process loan assumptions.
- Manage ARM rate change cycles.
- Review and update loans when ownership changes occur.
- Evaluate and process partial release requests.
- Support post-boarding corrections and validations for specialty loans.
- Work closely with other teams within Valon.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and guidelines.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on specialty loan scenarios.
- Maintain clean, audit-ready documentation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Interact with homeowners via inbound & outbound telephone calls, and emails regarding loan status
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of mortgage servicing experience.
- In-depth knowledge of servicing guidelines for ARMs, SCRA, partial releases, MERS, and SII.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex loan transactions.
- Knowledge of loan documentation, terms, and conditions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with GSE and government agency servicing guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA).
- Prior experience handling complex borrower communications or regulatory requests.
- Proven ability to approach servicing challenges with creativity and innovation.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
