Job Description

Fictiv is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to enhance critical manufacturing functions. The Manufacturing Engineer will work at the interface between builders and manufacturing partners, playing a critical role in creating the world’s premier platform for hardware manufacturing. This role involves reviewing and analyzing the manufacturability and costs associated with CNC machining, using a Mechanical Engineering background and knowledge of manufacturing processes to determine necessary design changes.

What the role involves:

  • Package review to determine scope of work and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Generating 'Should cost' estimates using in-house calculators and software.
  • Scrutinizing Manufacturing Partners' quotes for accuracy and optimization.
  • Negotiating with Manufacturing Partners to achieve the best costs.
  • Preparing RFQ packages for Manufacturing Partners.
  • Developing cost calculators and providing DFx feedback.
  • Providing feedback to the Quoting Software team for accuracy improvements.
  • Developing packaging concepts for the Logistics team.
  • Following up with Sales for Quoted RFQ feedback.
  • Evaluating value deals for project management validation.
  • Handling Assembly product structure and clearing technical queries.
  • Maintaining reports for Opportunities quoted won/lost.
  • Participating in Manufacturing Partners QBR to address cost issues.

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented with an inclination for documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Self-starter with efficient time management skills.
  • Enjoys sharing knowledge and teaching others about manufacturing processes.
  • 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • Strong background in 3D model & 2D print review.
  • Expertise in various machining processes (5, 4, 3 Axis Milling, Turning, etc.).
  • Strong GD & T background.
  • Knowledge of CNC machines specifications and programming.
  • Understanding of materials and their properties.
  • Familiarity with heat treatment and secondary processes.
  • Experience with inspection instruments and methods.
  • Knowledge of PPAP, ISO 9001:2015, and AS9100D documentation.
  • Proficient in Excel & Google Sheets.
  • Training on cutting tools (Sandvik, Kennametal, etc.).
  • Production costing background.
  • Packaging estimation skills.
