Software Engineer, SQL - AI Training (Freelance, Remote)

Job Description

Alignerr, operated by Labelbox, is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in SQL to join their AI Training team on a freelance, remote basis. This role involves shaping the future of AI by ensuring AI models generate accurate and efficient SQL code.

The Software Engineer will work as AI Tutor - SQL, using data querying and database knowledge to evaluate AI-generated SQL queries for accuracy, performance, and best practices. The candidate will write SQL queries across a range of relational database systems, explain their approach and highlight reasoning in plain English, and flag common errors in joins, filters, aggregations, or schema assumptions.

Responsibilities:

Requirements:

• Fluent in English with clear analytical thinking.
• Expertise in SQL: Proficient in writing complex queries, understanding indexing, and normalizing databases.
• 3-5 years of experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree (or pursuing one) in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• Curious about AI applications in data and excited to help shape the tools of tomorrow.
