Monzo is seeking a Machine Learning Manager to lead their Operations Machine Learning Team. The team aims to transform customer service by reducing issue resolution time, enhancing customer confidence and satisfaction. This role is pivotal in leveraging machine learning techniques, including LLMs, to understand customer problems and develop an effective human-in-the-loop system. The manager will lead a growing team of 5 ML engineers embedded in product squads.

Role Involves:

  • Heading machine learning for the entire Operations domain at Monzo.
  • Building the vision, strategy, and team of machine learning experts.
  • Working across interdisciplinary squads with Product Managers, Engineers, and Data colleagues.
  • Leading the design, build, and delivery of machine learning systems.
  • Supporting, coaching, and developing high-performing Machine Learning Scientists.
  • Contributing to best practices and scaling the impact of machine learning across Monzo.

Requirements:

  • Experience managing teams of 4 or more Machine Learning professionals.
  • Experience owning Machine Learning systems in production.
  • Understanding of how ML systems work and how to design them based on business problems.
  • Experience collaborating with senior business stakeholders and product teams.
  • Knowledge of building high-performing teams.
  • Empathetic leadership style and strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous problem spaces.
