Job Description
Fortune Media is seeking an Energy Reporter to contribute to their energy coverage. This role involves reporting and writing in-depth feature stories, covering industry trends, breaking news, and providing daily coverage of oil and gas, renewables, critical minerals, and energy policy, with a focus on North America and global energy industries, particularly Fortune 500 companies. The Energy Reporter will report to the energy editor and be part of a new energy team at Fortune.
The role involves:
- Researching, reporting, editing, and writing about energy stock market movements.
- Analyzing financial filings and analyst reports.
- Networking with CEOs, executives, and sources inside energy companies.
- Appearing on stage at Fortune events to interview industry leaders.
- Generating story ideas, from quick news hits to profiles and magazine features.
- Working on tight deadlines and pursuing original reporting.
- Collaborating with the energy editor and colleagues to edit each other’s work.
- Creating charts using tools like Datawrapper.
Requirements include:
- At least 3 years of full-time newsroom experience, preferably in a similar role.
- A digital-first mindset and voracious reading habits.
- Interest in energy coverage and the desire to define the beat.
- The ability to work quickly and collaboratively as part of a tight-knit, fast-paced team.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
