Job Description
Monzo is seeking a Head of Credit Risk, EU to lead the development, implementation, and oversight of the bank's credit risk framework in Europe. This role involves providing second-line oversight of credit risk policies, processes, and models, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
The Head of Credit Risk will report to the Chief Risk Officer, Monzo Europe, and collaborate with senior stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of retail credit and prudential regulation in the EU.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and enhancing Monzo's Retail Credit Risk Framework for Europe.
- Defining and overseeing the implementation of the Retail Credit Risk Appetite Statement.
- Providing second-line oversight of Retail Credit Risk activities.
- Leading regular reviews of the credit portfolio's asset quality.
- Establishing robust credit risk monitoring and early warning processes.
- Reviewing and validating retail credit risk models.
- Chairing and contributing to risk governance forums.
- Ensuring compliance with Central Bank of Ireland requirements.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in retail credit risk management.
- Detailed experience in consumer finance and knowledge of retail credit products.
- Detailed knowledge of IFRS9, CRR/CRD prudential regulation, and regulatory expectations in Ireland and Europe.
- Proficiency in credit risk modeling measurement tools.
- Proven experience in reviewing and validating credit risk models.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Track record of building and leading high-performing risk teams.
