The Senior Backend Engineer will be instrumental in designing and building the in-house banking platform. The role is open to candidates across various collectives within Monzo, including Core Banking, Business Banking, Wealth, Borrowing, Growth, Payments, Platform, Fincrime, Security & Expansion. What this role involves:

  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including product managers, marketers, designers, and other engineers.
  • Building and supporting specific parts of the Monzo platform.
  • Working within squads belonging to self-governing business units.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in backend development.
  • Interest in building a product used daily by customers.
  • A product mindset with a focus on customer outcomes and data-driven decisions.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous environments.
  • Interest in distributed systems and resilient software development.
  • Experience with strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, Scala, etc.).

Monzo offers:

  • A base salary of £95,000 - £130,000 plus stock options.
