Job Description

GitLab is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Create:Code Review team. This role focuses on the backend aspects of the Code Review Workflow and GitLab CLI product categories, specifically working on Merge Requests features. The engineer will develop and maintain backend systems, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and speed. GitLab is an open core software company that develops the most comprehensive AI-powered DevSecOps Platform.

The Senior Backend Engineer will collaborate with product management and other engineering teams to maintain high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment. They will advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance, and help define internal standards for style and maintainability.

What this role involves:

• Developing features and improvements to the GitLab product.
• Collaborating with Product Management and other stakeholders.
• Solving technical problems of high scope and complexity.
• Mentoring Junior and Intermediate Engineers.
• Conducting Code Review within our Code Review Guidelines

Requirements:

• Significant professional experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Professional experience with PostgreSQL or a comparable RDBMS.
• Professional experience with Sidekiq.
• Proficiency in the English language.
• Experience with performance and optimization problems.
