Job Description
GitLab is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join its Fulfillment Platform team. This role focuses on SOX compliance initiatives, building automated tools and processes to demonstrate adherence to regulatory requirements. The engineer will develop solutions for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on compliance-related activities, particularly around merge requests and code changes. The role enhances GitLab's governance practices and streamlines the compliance process.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and enhancing SOX compliance reporting tools.
- Leading the development of automated tools that track and document changes between GitLab releases.
- Implementing statistical analysis of code changes between versions.
- Creating parsers for multiple dependency formats and convert them to unified formats.
- Developing Git analytics engines to track repository changes and analyze commit patterns.
- Building systems to infer merge requests from commits and analyze their metadata.
- Collaborating with auditors to ensure compliance requirements are met.
- Reviewing and offering feedback on merge requests from other Fulfillment Platform developers.
Requirements:
- Professional experience working in Ruby on Rails.
- Strong backend development skills with experience building reporting and monitoring tools.
- Understanding of financial compliance requirements (SOX experience is a plus).
- Experience working with data integrity and governance concepts.
- Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal.
- Experience owning a project from concept to production.
- Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical problems.
