Staff Backend Engineer

Job Description

Monzo is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join their team. This role involves collaborating across disciplines to test hypotheses and make a difference to customers. The engineer will work in a squad alongside product managers, marketers, user researchers, designers, mobile engineers, web engineers, data analysts, business analysts, and writers to build and support a particular part of Monzo.

Monzo relies heavily on tools and technologies such as Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Envoy Proxy, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and React.

What this role involves:

• Collaborating across disciplines to test hypotheses and make a difference to customers.
• Working in a squad alongside various professionals to build and support a part of Monzo.

Requirements:

• Strong experience working on the backend of a technology product.
• A product mindset, caring about customer outcomes and making data-informed decisions.
• Comfort working in a team that deals with ambiguity.
• Interest in distributed systems and writing resilient software.
• Experience with strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, Scala etc.).
