Monzo is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join its growing team and contribute to its mission of making money work for everyone. The engineer will collaborate across disciplines to test hypotheses and make a difference to customers. They will work in a squad alongside product managers, marketers, user researchers, designers, mobile engineers, web engineers, data analysts, business analysts, writers, and more, building and supporting a particular part of Monzo.
The role involves:

The ideal candidate should have:
- Strong experience in backend development.
- A product mindset and care about customer outcomes.
- Comfort working in a team that deals with ambiguity.
- Interest in distributed systems and resilient software.
- Experience with strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, Scala etc.).
Monzo offers:
- £115,000 - £150,000 base salary.
