Staff Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud Data Store

Job Description

Temporal is seeking a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to join its Cloud Data Store team. This role focuses on reimagining cloud storage and building a customized persistence layer for Temporal. The engineer will work on solving distributed systems problems related to databases and cloud storage, aiming to increase reliability, scalability, and reduce costs.Responsibilities:

• Build systems that optimize cloud use and scale for expansion.
• Contribute to Cloud Data Store system architecture and execution.
• Maintain a culture of engineering and operational excellence.
• Develop partnerships across Cloud Data Store teams.
• Perform design reviews for infrastructure scalability and reliability.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements.
• Leverage Temporal’s software to power infrastructure at scale.
• Share design principles for building reliable systems.

Requirements:

• Experience contributing to complex cross-team engineering efforts focused on cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to drive alignment across an organization.
• Demonstrated ability to make system-level tradeoffs.
• At least 7 years coding experience (Go, Python, Java).
• Experience designing and running highly available systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Pulumi, Terraform).
• Kubernetes management experience.
• Experience working with databases.
