Job Description
Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Decisions and Pricing team, focusing on delivering optimal credit decisions for consumers while maintaining unit economics and competitiveness. This role is based in Poland and can be performed remotely. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for leading engineers, solving complex problems, and ensuring team goals are met. They will collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams to contribute to the product development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will proactively identify and resolve project, process, and technology issues, fostering a culture of quality and ownership within the team.
What this role involves:
- Owning and delivering quarterly goals for the team.
- Leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
- Collaborating with product management, design & analytics.
- Identifying and resolving project, process, technology or business issues.
- Supporting the operations and availability of team artifacts.
- Fostering a culture of quality and ownership.
- Developing talent on the team through feedback and guidance.
- Building APIs and data models within micro-service and event-driven architectures.
- Improving the platform's extensibility, performance, and usability.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python and Kotlin/Java.
- Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in object-oriented and dynamically typed languages.
- Ability to synthesize complex business, product, and technical requirements.
- Experience architecting, building, launching, and maintaining complex systems.
- Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
