Job Description
Affirm is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to play a crucial role in defining and leading technical excellence across all Purchasing frontend engineering. This role involves collaborating with engineering leaders, creating and implementing technical strategy across full-stack teams, and coordinating with stakeholders to build stable, performant solutions. The ideal candidate will shape best practices, guide architectural choices, and drive the successful delivery of critical initiatives.
The role involves:
- Building and driving technical strategy for all frontend teams in checkout.
- Working closely with stakeholders to champion and implement technical excellence.
- Creating and influencing a strong ownership culture across teams.
- Delivering critical user experiences with high reliability and performance.
- Guiding product decisions and determining technical tradeoffs.
- Designing, implementing, and extending core platform components.
- Architecting and contributing to decisions on platform, tools, and technologies.
- Planning, designing, and building core platform software and systems to scale.
The ideal candidate should have:
- 10+ years of experience working across the stack in web and backend.
- Strong experience leading multiple engineering teams.
- Track record of successfully leading critical projects.
- Extensive experience developing and implementing technical strategy.
- Previous project management or people management experience.
- An ownership mindset and collaborative partnership skills.
- A customer-first mindset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
