Manager, Software Engineering (Card Platform)

Job Description

Affirm is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead strategic initiatives within its card platform. This role involves leading a high-performing backend engineering team focused on building solutions that enable new card constructs and strategic partnerships. The Engineering Manager will collaborate with various teams to develop a technical roadmap, coach team members, and foster a culture of innovation and accountability.What this role involves:

• Leading a high performing backend engineering team (Kotlin & Python)
• Collaborating with Product, Analytics, Design, Operations, and other engineering teams
• Coaching, developing, retaining, and providing thoughtful feedback to team members
• Fostering a team culture around innovation, accountability, empathy, and execution
• Collaborating & aligning with other engineering leaders across Affirm

What the role requires:

• 7+ years of Engineering experience, including 2+ years of Engineering Management/Leadership Experience
• Track record of successfully architecting, building, launching, and growing financial products at scale
• Proven ability to scale and foster a high-performing engineering team
• Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills
• Strong analytical rigor, innovative mindset, obsession over product excellence, and an ability to move fast
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
