Job Description
Affirm is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead their Cloud Cost Management team. This role is pivotal in driving a culture of ownership and accountability for infrastructure costs, collaborating with Finance and Engineering leadership to meet financial targets, and shaping Affirm's strategy for managing a multi-million dollar annual spend. The Senior Manager will lead technical decisions, projects, and roadmaps within the Infrastructure team, while promoting a culture of reliability, security, and productivity.
Role involves:
- Developing frameworks, systems, and tools for infrastructure cost management.
- Collaborating with Finance and Engineering leadership on financial targets.
- Leading technical decisions and projects within the Infrastructure team.
- Driving business and engineering metrics.
- Leading and mentoring a team of engineers.
- Collaborating with tech leads, program managers, and product managers.
Requirements:
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- 10+ years of experience in managing diverse teams and delivering technical programs.
- Proven track record in stakeholder management and successful delivery.
- Expertise in managing large-scale compute and data processing systems.
- Expertise in scaling technologies like Kubernetes, Redis, MySQL, and Kafka.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Deep experience in cloud infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
