Director, Product Design

Job Description

Affirm is seeking a Director of Product Design to lead the Direct to Consumer design team. The Director will reinforce the north star of where DTC design is going at Affirm and let the team's work shine. The DTC team is constantly developing new ways to bring more value to millions of users. The role involves working with cross-functional teams, exploring new design languages, and delivering personalized experiences.

Role involves:

• Managing and developing a team of product designers and design managers.
• Fostering a creative, collaborative, and high-performing culture.
• Translating qualitative and quantitative inputs into a clear direction.
• Communicating recommendations and strategy to stakeholders.
• Guiding the team to develop best practices for quality.
• Collaborating with product management, engineering, user research, and content design.
• Defining and communicating the design strategy and vision for the company.
• Recruiting new designers and contributing as a designer when necessary.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience across a wide range of products, leading design teams, and driving creative solutions.
• A portfolio of relevant design work showcasing the ability to inspire stakeholders and ship compelling product experiences.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• A user-centered design approach.
• Experience working with engineers, product managers, and user researchers.
• Experience building teams of high-quality design talent.
• Experienced knowledge of design and collaboration software (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, G Suite, Asana, Notion).
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
