Build Systems Engineer

Job Description

Vercel is seeking a Senior Build Systems Engineer to join their CI/CD - Turborepo team. This role focuses on enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and developer experience of Vercel's build and deployment systems. The engineer will contribute to maintaining and improving open-source tools like Turborepo and the Vercel CLI, supporting both internal teams and the developer community.

What this role involves:

• Contributing to the design, implementation, and maintenance of Turborepo.
• Identifying opportunities to enhance the performance, reliability, and developer experience of CI/CD on Vercel.
• Improving developer experience for both large and small codebases.
• Staying abreast of industry trends and advancements in CI/CD technologies.
• Engaging with the open-source community and contributing to related projects.
• Writing clean, efficient, tested, and well-documented code.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of relevant experience and 1+ years writing Rust code.
• Experience designing and maintaining APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and experience with modern frontend development tools.
• Intrigue by the challenges faced by building and orchestrating other engineer's code.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Opinions about how to architect scalable codebases.
