Job Description
Vercel is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Turbopack team, which is responsible for Vercel’s next-generation bundler and development engine. This role involves scaling Turbopack across the ecosystem, enhancing local and cloud performance, and working closely with the Next.js and infrastructure teams. The Engineering Manager will guide a team of senior engineers in building a foundational component of the modern web stack.
What This Role Involves:
- Leading and managing the Turbopack team.
- Driving technical direction and execution for Turbopack’s roadmap.
- Partnering with teams across Vercel to optimize Turbopack for the developer workflow.
- Developing alignment between product, design, and engineering.
- Mentoring and growing senior ICs.
- Balancing product delivery with platform reliability and performance.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders and the open-source community.
- Advocating for great developer experience.
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing high-performing teams in a systems or developer tooling environment.
- Strong technical background in compilers, build systems, JavaScript/TypeScript tooling, or systems-level engineering.
- Track record of successfully delivering high-impact products.
- Skilled at fostering a culture of technical rigor and fast iteration.
- Deep understanding of performance optimization and dev tooling ergonomics.
- Comfortable managing ambiguity and shaping strategy.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
