Senior Backend Engineer, Java

Rush Street Interactive (RSI) is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Player Onboarding team. This role is based in Estonia and focuses on player sign-up flow and integrations with 3rd party services. The Senior Backend Engineer will take ownership of designing and developing robust, scalable systems to ensure seamless player experiences. They will also act as a technical leader, helping to shape the team’s technical roadmap and improve engineering culture.

What this role involves:

• Architecting and developing solutions for player sign-up flow and integrations.
• Taking architectural ownership of platform services and mentoring junior engineers.
• Diagnosing and resolving complex technical challenges.
• Developing metrics for observability to ensure service quality.
• Ensuring code quality through testing and reviews.
• Researching and proposing new tools and technologies.
• Partnering with Tech Leads, Product Owners, and QA teams.

Requirements:

• Strong experience with Java in production systems, using frameworks like Spring or Dropwizard.
• Solid understanding of REST, messaging systems, and relational databases.
• Demonstrated ability to take full ownership of services and drive technical initiatives.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative engineering culture.
