Senior Software Developer (AI/Python) 

Job Description

Lightspeed is seeking a Senior Software Developer (AI/Python) to join their Agent OC Squad in Berlin. This role focuses on building AI-powered tools and capabilities, working with LLMs, agent frameworks, and other emerging AI technologies. The developer will contribute to creating internal tools, extending the product suite with new AI features, and assisting other teams in adopting AI effectively.

The Senior Software Developer will be part of a collaborative team of backend engineers, product managers, and designers. The role involves hands-on Python backend development, building scalable APIs and systems that integrate with AI-powered services. There is also opportunity to explore and apply modern AI techniques.

Responsibilities:

• Building and maintaining backend services and APIs in Python
• Designing and implementing AI-powered tools and product features
• Collaborating with other teams to integrate LLMs and AI patterns
• Exploring and applying LLM capabilities such as summarization, classification, RAG, and prompt pipelines
• Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested backend code
• Ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability of systems
• Staying up to date with developments in the AI space

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience in backend development
• Strong production experience with Python and frameworks like FastAPI or Flask
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and system architecture
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Comfortable writing well-structured, maintainable code
• Interest in AI technologies and willingness to grow in this space
