Space Systems Manufacturing Engineer II/Senior

Job Description

Rocket Lab is seeking a Space Systems Manufacturing Engineer II/Senior to join their team in Long Beach, CA. This role is responsible for process development, implementation, and sustainment of high-performance missions in Defense and Intelligence Space. The engineer will contribute to the development of technologies and platforms for NASA missions to the Moon, Venus, and Mars. They will also support the Manufacturing Engineering Manager for Avionics and Space Systems, Production, and Design organizations.What this role involves:

• Contributing to design reviews.
• Overseeing the introduction and implementation of new products and product revisions.
• Performing Value Stream Mapping Exercises and Method of Manufacture plans.
• Defining and implementing Factory layouts and Equipment selection.
• Leading problem containment and root cause & corrective action investigations.
• Leading the continuous improvement process using lean tools and techniques.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or Mechanical preferred).
• 2+ years (for Engineer II) or 5+ years (for Senior Engineer) of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of EEE piece parts, PCB, PCBA, electromechanical assembly, tooling, test, and quality techniques.
• Experience using fundamentals of electronic circuits, design principles, and manufacturing techniques.
• Experience and understanding of proper clean room protocols.
• Experience with spacecraft assembly procedures and standards.
