Rocket Lab is seeking a Quality Engineer II to join their Space Systems team in Silver Spring, Maryland. This role focuses on developing and implementing methods to track and reduce manufacturing non-conformances and improve flight reliability for satellite mechanisms. The Quality Engineer II will manage the quality management process, oversee non-conformance tracking, and develop KPIs to evaluate product risk during manufacturing.Rocket Lab's Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab. The team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defense sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.
What this role involves: - Managing PSC-RL’s quality management process and tailor to industry standards
- Overseeing non-conformance tracking and evaluation systems
- Developing and implementing KPIs to track product risk
- Working with program management, design, manufacturing, and production teams
- Tracking and reducing RPNs and time to resolution for non-conformances
- Leading root cause analysis and resolution
- Developing employee quality training standards
- Improving quality tracking transparency
- Supporting customer quality audits
- Contract review of quality clauses
- Interfacing with procurement quality team
Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field
- 2+ years' experience as a quality engineer
- Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 quality management systems
- Experience with non-conformance investigations, RPN evaluation, and root cause determination
- Experience implementing and evaluating quality related KPIs
- Capacity to comply with U.S. export control laws
