AI Engineer - AI procurement Startup Berlin

Job Description

Forgent AI, supported by Cherry Ventures, is seeking an AI Engineer to join their founding technical team in Berlin. This role offers the opportunity to shape the company's AI strategy and technical direction, focusing on building AI products for public procurement.

The AI Engineer will work closely with founders and other engineers, taking ownership of key AI components and driving innovation from experimentation to production-ready systems.

Role Involves:

• Designing, implementing, and evaluating state-of-the-art AI models and systems.
• Developing and refining methods for extracting structured information from unstructured text data.
• Collaborating with product engineers, platform engineers, and founders.
• Managing data preparation, experimentation, and model performance evaluation.
• Staying updated on the latest advancements in AI and applying novel techniques.
• Contributing to technical design discussions and establishing best practices for AI development.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional experience building and deploying AI/ML systems.
• Deep hands-on expertise with LLMs, including model orchestration and prompt engineering.
• Strong practical experience implementing and optimizing RAG systems.
• Deep understanding of embedding, retrieval, and chunking techniques.
• Excellent communication skills in written and verbal English.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into practical AI solutions.
• Motivated by ownership and excited by the company's mission.
