Sportsbook - Backend Engineering Tech Lead

Job Description

Betsson Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Backend Engineering Tech Lead to join their Sportsbook B2B & Integrations Value stream. This role is based in Athens and involves participating in the development of complex tasks and ensuring high-quality delivery by the development team. The Tech Lead will collaborate closely with architects to align and implement technical directions, while also aligning with other tech leads to maintain technical consistency and drive excellence initiatives within Sportsbook.

The ideal candidate will identify and validate technical improvements, explain their benefits to both technical and non-technical audiences, and participate in development, testing, code reviews, and bug fixing. They will also help build the team by participating in technical interviews and coaching engineers.

Role Involves:

• Participating in the development effort of higher complexity tasks.
• Ensuring a high-quality delivery by the developers.
• Aligning with architects to implement technical directions.
• Driving technical excellence initiatives within Sportsbook.
• Identifying and validating technical improvements.
• Participating in development, testing, code reviews, and bug fixing.
• Coaching & mentoring engineers.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in development.
• Deep understanding of the latest C# and .NET framework/core.
• Experience with ASP.NET Core for building web-based applications.
• Familiarity with messaging systems, message queues, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience deploying scalable back-end solutions using AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Knowledge of containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Expertise with distributed systems and high-speed database technologies, including SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).
• Deep understanding of coding best practices.
• Understanding of caching, CDN and infrastructure in relation to how customers interact with our site.
• Being able to understand our different release processes.
