Senior Staff Embedded Engineer, Advanced Development

Job Description

Luminar, a global automotive technology company, is seeking a Senior Staff Embedded Engineer to join its Advanced Development Organization. This role focuses on embedded system solutions for the next-generation lidar sensor. The Senior Staff Embedded Engineer will be responsible for designing circuits, testing, and system integration.Responsibilities:

• Deliver next-generation embedded systems concepts and solutions.
• Lead, mentor, and collaborate with the embedded systems engineering team.
• Drive solutions and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Facilitate and participate in the invention process.
• Manage project priorities and scope to meet schedule.
• Collaborate with other embedded and algorithm teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in embedded systems development.
• 5+ years of experience with FPGA/SoC development.
• Experience with task management and project management tools.
• Experience with SoC devices, including Xilinx SoC.
• Experience with digital signal processing algorithms and their deployment in Embedded Systems/FPGA.
• Familiarity with programming languages (C/C++, Python, Matlab).
• Working knowledge of servo control theory and algorithms.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's or PhD Degree in related engineering field.
• Experience with LiDAR or otherwise Optomechanical Systems / APD’s / Lasers / TEC’s
• Responsible for architecting and developing (hdl/c) for SoC-based embedded systems using Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ SoCs
• Experience with Xilinx RFSoC Devices
• Familiar with Verilog and VHDL
• Experience with developing and deploying Digital Signal Processing Algorithms in embedded systems
• Experience with developing and delivering servo-mechanical control systems via embedded systems
• Experience collaborating in ASIC development and/or developing RTL for ASIC
• Experience with common dev-ops and developer tools (Git/Jira/Docker/Static Analysis/Linting)
