Senior System Engineer (DevOps + Azure) - Grand Central

Job Description

Backbase is seeking a Senior System Engineer (DevOps + Azure) to contribute to building and maintaining an enterprise-grade "Data as a Service" platform from scratch. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in installing, maintaining, and scaling Databricks clusters on Azure. This role involves working within a cross-functional team of Data, System, Security, and Software engineers to ensure the performance and reliability of the data platform.Responsibilities include:

• Building and maintaining the performance and reliability of the Data platform.
• Becoming the go-to expert in resource utilization, cost optimization, performance tuning, and data isolation.
• Maintaining Infrastructure as Code for the Data as a Service platform.
• Participating in the refining of the architecture.
• Automating responses to events and ensuring high uptime and security.

Requirements:

• At least 4 years of experience with Databricks infrastructure.
• Experience with multi-tenant installation in Databricks is a plus.
• Experience building, scaling, and maintaining Data platforms on public cloud (preferably Azure).
• Experience with monitoring and metrics tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Azure Monitor.
• Experience in programming and automation.
• Experience with cloud environments and desired state configuration tools (Terraform/OpenTofu preferred).
• At least 5 years in a similar role running workloads on public cloud.
• Knowledge of GitOps / ArgoCD is a plus.
• Proficiency in using CLI-based tooling and troubleshooting Linux-based operating systems.
• Strong communication skills.
