Sr Software Development Engineer in Test II (Sr. SDET II), Platform and Tooling

Job Description

Life360 is seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test II (Sr. SDET II) to build and maintain automated testing frameworks, tools, and infrastructure for its cloud services. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of Life360's cloud services. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coding and building automation infrastructure from scratch.Life360 is a Remote First company, which means a remote work environment will be the primary experience for all employees.What this role involves:

• Designing, developing, and implementing robust automated testing solutions for cloud-based applications and services.
• Collaborating with development, DevOps, and product teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Establishing best practices and standards for testing distributed systems, microservices, and interfaces.
• Leading and mentoring other engineers on the team.
• Leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test efficiency and defect detection.
• Establishing and implementing AI-driven and predictive testing methodologies.
• Proactively identifying gaps and risks in testing processes and driving solutions independently.
• Driving sprint planning and agile/scrum practices.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years in QA Automation, SDET, or Test Automation roles.
• Experience in developing and integrating automated testing frameworks within CI/CD pipelines.
• Deep understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
• Proficiency with open-source test automation frameworks, preferably TestNG.
• Experience in API testing using Postman or similar tools.
• Strong background in load, stress, performance, system integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Extensive hands-on programming experience in Java or Python.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architectures and testing complex distributed systems.
• Familiarity with modern cloud-native technologies such as Redis, NSQ, SQS, Kinesis, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes (K8s).
• Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for improving engineering efficiency and enhancing the software development lifecycle.
