Lead Site Reliability Engineer II, Production Engineering

Job Description

Cisco is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer II to join their Production Engineering team. This role is based in San Francisco, California, and focuses on enhancing the reliability, security, and performance of Cisco's distributed systems. The ideal candidate will lead the implementation of DevSecOps practices and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the platform.What This Role Involves:

• Leading the implementation of DevSecOps practices across the engineering organization.
• Designing and implementing scalable, resilient architectures for the SaaS platform.
• Reviewing and enhancing the security posture of containerized and cloud-native systems.
• Guiding and mentoring team members in SRE best practices, security principles, and DevOps methodologies.
• Staying abreast of industry trends in cloud-native technologies, security, and SRE practices.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in SRE, DevSecOps, or similar roles, with a strong focus on security.
• Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native technologies.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, or similar).
• Deep understanding of AWS services and best practices for secure, scalable architectures.
• Proven experience in implementing and managing DevSecOps practices.
• Strong background in security engineering, with hands-on experience in vulnerability management, threat modeling, and secure system design.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Track record of leading and mentoring high-performing technical teams.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and ArgoCD.
