Sand Technologies is seeking an Accountant to join their team in South Africa. The Accountant will report to the Head of Finance and will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of financial operations, compliance, and reporting. This position oversees internal audits, treasury management, and financial process improvement, supporting Sand’s mission to empower organizations globally through advanced digital transformation solutions.

The role is instrumental in maintaining financial health and aligning operations with the company’s growth across industries like telecom, healthcare, and utilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Managing cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and financial operations.
  • Ensuring adherence to GAAP/IFRS and other financial regulations.
  • Identifying and implementing enhancements in financial systems and internal controls.
  • Preparing monthly invoices and conducting bi-weekly debtors reconciliations.
  • Verifying and processing staff claims and payment batches.
  • Updating fixed asset registers and processing monthly depreciation journals.
  • Planning and executing audits and assess risks.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in accounting, financial audits, or compliance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of financial processes, reporting standards, and controls.
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems (e.g. Oracle NetSuite), and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • High ethical standards and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Experience with invoicing, debtor reconciliations, and payment processing workflows.
