Job Description

Sony PlayStation is seeking an Information Systems Engineer to support the Future Technology Group (FTG) in San Mateo, CA. The successful candidate will be a computer enthusiast passionate about gaming and building custom solutions, helping coworkers overcome IT challenges.

This role involves operational and project-based work across global FTG departments and business units within SIE and Sony operating companies. The engineer will primarily work in person at the San Mateo campus, with some flexibility for remote work.

Role involves:

  • Supporting Linux computing needs for client endpoints and servers globally.
  • Contributing to the support, design, and improvement of data center and end-user Linux computing platforms.
  • Participating in engineering efforts to streamline user experiences and efficiency.
  • Leveraging systems tools to identify and mitigate anomalies.
  • Analyzing application and systems data to improve sub-optimal behaviors.
  • Engineering and using automation tools to proactively supervise the health of production systems and respond to events.
  • Participating in developing policies, procedures, and technical reports.
  • Collaborating with peers in the implementation of new topologies and services.
  • Collaborating with the Information Security team on multi-functional initiatives and investigations.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise Linux environments, including cloud.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with modern systems OS platforms (Linux, Windows, etc.).
  • Proficiency with code languages and automation tools (Salt, Landscape, Ansible, Python, etc.).
  • Proficiency with VMware vSphere clusters, networking, and storage.
  • Understanding of datacenter, cloud, and live production methodologies.
  • Ability to lead medium complexity projects.
  • Ability to author and maintain documentation of systems and processes.
  • Ability to design, upgrade, and maintain platform services across on-premises and cloud-based providers.
