Job Description
Carta is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead its Infrastructure Engineering team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the security, reliability, scalability, and performance of Carta's cloud infrastructure. The Director will lead a diverse team of engineers, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of execution excellence. They will partner with other organizations within Carta to meet their infrastructure needs and align technical direction with the company's overall engineering strategy. The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering large-scale projects, managing geographically distributed teams, and building services from inception to production. They should also possess a deep understanding of Linux, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure as code and automation.
Role Involves:
- Mentoring, growing, and empowering the engineering team.
- Ensuring the security, availability, scalability, and reliability of Carta's cloud infrastructure.
- Partnering with peer organizations to meet infrastructure needs.
- Defining metrics, tools, and practices to ensure business impact.
- Providing and seeking regular feedback from teams.
- Aligning design and technology choices with engineering strategy.
- Hiring top talent to grow Carta's infrastructure.
Requirements:
- Experience in delivering large-scale projects in compute, networking, storage, etc.
- Track record of leading and mentoring geographically distributed teams.
- Experience writing production-quality code in Python, Java, or Go.
- Ability to empower teams and resolve disagreements with empathy.
- Experience building services from inception to production.
- Deep understanding of Linux, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Endorsement of infrastructure as code and passion for automation.
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices.
