Job Description
Archer Aviation is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join their Electric Propulsion System team in San Jose, California. In this role, the technician will be responsible for the hands-on assembly of components for the Midnight aircraft. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical assemblies.Archer Aviation is dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces differences and supports all team members.What this role involves:
  • Assembling and testing custom mechanisms
  • Assembling the integrated tilt mechanism, engine, and propeller system
  • Working closely with the engineering teams to support process validation
  • Troubleshooting equipment and process issues
  • Debugging issues during assembly and test processes
  • Ensuring all quality standards are followed to ensure safety of aircraft
  • Building basic lab fixtures and tools, and give feedback for improvements
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment
  • Performing inspections and measurements of product dimensions using basic metrology tools
  • Documenting and reporting quality findings
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree, or 5+ years in aerospace (preferred) or automotive industry
  • Direct hands-on build experience with mechanical assemblies using technical documentation with strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with fastening operations, bearing presses, and other mechanical assembly processes
  • Ability to follow formal build instructions and document any deviations from those instructions or requirements
  • High workmanship standards with attention to detail
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office
  • Basic knowledge of drafting standards (read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings) to understand parts and assemblies
  • Experience using measurement and inspection (calipers, micrometer, depth gauges, feeler gauges, measurement microscope, borescope, etc.)
  • Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization methods
  • Experience following all aspects of maintenance safety protocol (LOTO, 5S, Arc Flash, etc.)
