Software Engineer II (Java, AWS)

Job Description

Tripadvisor is seeking a Software Engineer II to join their Performance Marketing team in Lisbon, Portugal. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving visitors to Tripadvisor's website, contributing to the company's revenue growth. This role involves collaborating with product managers, analysts, and data scientists to optimize traffic acquisition across various advertising platforms.

The engineer will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle, from design to deployment, within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Tripadvisor values speed and empowers engineers to take ownership of their designs.

What this role involves:

• Coding and releasing code to production frequently.
• Developing platforms and tools for managing SEM, Hotel Ads, and social accounts.
• Working with data scientists to produce predictive algorithms for bidding and optimizing ad spend.
• Providing daily operational support for crucial systems.
• Taking responsibility for all aspects of software engineering.
• Operating across a diverse technology stack including Java, Python, PySpark, and more.

Requirements:

• At least 4+ years’ experience of commercial software development
• Experience with designing and querying relational databases and big data.
• Familiarity with Linux.
• Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
• Willingness and ability to take on new technologies.
• Ability to break down complex problems into simple solutions.
• Strong analytical skills and desire to write clean, correct and efficient code.
• High quality verbal and written communication skills.
• Sense of ownership, urgency and pride in your work.
